Biodiversity & European Parliament for our "Lgumes Oublis" !

The sustainable development are since many years a real stake for european and world politicals. Around the conferences and reports resulting from the great international conferences from Rio, Lisbon and Johannesburg, Europe engaged in a vast program of mobilization.

Today a new stage is to be crossed: the Commission and the European Parliament are preparing for 2010, a vast diary in order to stop the current erosion of the alive world, by developing economic activities around this sector. It is in this context that the "EP Intergroup on Sustainable Development" work since 1994, to prepare next Conférence of Lisbon, which will be held the 12 and next 13 November, in order to develop the European experiments in favour of biodiversity and the economic development.

With the experts, the meeting which was held in Brussels, this Tuesday July 3, joined together around fifty of people, of which several European members of Parliament and delegates of the various directions of the European Commission. The objective was to have the results of the many work completed since October 2005, around the economic projects related to the protection of (the Project "Probioprise" for: "Pro-biodiversity enterprise").

It was organized in the European Parliament, more specifically by "EP Intergroup on Sustainable Development", jointly with the " European Bureau for the Conservation and Development" (EBCD), "Fauna & Flaura International " (FFI) and the "European Foundation for the Development of the Management" (EFMD), to which the School of "Bordeaux Business School" in Talence belongs.

It is besides Laurence Harribey, who manages the "Sustainable Development Desk" in this school (single organization of this type, in France), which had identified the experiment that our "Heritage Vegetables". And it is always with this scientific expert, that Bernard Lafon presented last October his experiment, in Samoborsko, the North-East of Zagreb, in Croatia. This meeting of work, directed towards the defense and the valorization of vegetables, joined together in particular about fifteen European companies.

An academic case for the students in management was established starting from our expertise and this one sufficiently held the attention of the participants, to be included and largely illustrated in the final report, which was written by the Community experts and was presented this 3 July. It is in this context, that Bernard Lafon once again explained his actions, his role and the importance of the many stakes and opportunities which result from this, as well for the small companies and farms, which the balance of our natural ecosystems.

In its remarks, it insisted much on:
- utility of vegetable, as regards food balance and health,
- importance of the educational actions, in the spirit of a better comprehension of the life stakes, tastes and savours, as well for the children the adults,
- possibilities of economic activities which exist around all this sector,
- interest of the "heriatge productions", compared to the ecosystems, the organic productions and the safeguard of,
- as well as the many advantages and multiple opportunities, that the native plants and the whole of the old varieties have, as well for the organic agriculture, than the agricultural practices, taking into account the new economic stakes created by the current environmental risks.

Taking into account the reactions which appeared, this intervention obviously was largely appreciated and it is the whole of these steps as regards safeguard of vegetable, but also of economic development, like all our educational and tourist actions in favour of the health and the organic agriculture, which truly held the attention and interested as well the scientific experts, that the Members of the Commission and the European Parliament.

Normally this report constitutes a working base for the Conference of Lisbon on "European Business & Biodiversity". This one will be organized within the framework of the portuguese presidency and should constitute an important stage in the program of "the Diary 2010". These directives will aim to accompany the companies, but also all the actions likely to stop the erosion of, in order to answer the great current stakes ofour societies, while developing the economic credits of our various European areas.

And of course, we hope that the "Légumes Oubnliés" will be able to take part in this conference, as well as the Aquitanian Area and France, in order to built actively on this file for better preserving the Life !
